Praise the Process
|
Praising children for the process of learning will help them understand that no matter what your innate ability, everyone can get better through practice, persistence, and study. When things go wrong, they won't feel dumb and defeated by the problem. They won't make excuses for their lack of success. They won't take the defeat as a personal criticism and they'll bounce back faster because they'll know they can do something to get better.
Practise. When errors occur, study what is going wrong, try something else and persist until you find a solution. Practise only what needs to be practised until you get it right. Study what you learned and put it in your toolbox for the next problem. Facing challenges, remaining resilient, overcoming obstacles: Isn't that what life is all about? |
